Once upon a time, long, long ago, in a far away place, a small boy and his mother went into town to look for a gift…

After a while, they found themselves in the dusty, winding, cobbled streets of the old jewellery quarter, and entered a small shop. With his mother engaged with the shopkeeper, the boy felt free to roam, and, after a few moments, he was drawn to a little cabinet, where he saw a small bright stone, as clear as a drop of newly fallen rain on a forest leaf. And yet, as he stared, transfixed, he noticed that there, suspended in the clear depths of the stone, timelessly dancing, was a faint aurora, a will o’ the wisp, a St. Elmo’s fire of celestial blue light.

Forged in the fires of an ancient and extinct volcano, the blue light seemed to speak with a message from a long distant past. It spoke of dreams and of ghosts. Of shadows, and shadows of dreams… It spoke of truth and knowledge and beauty… Of fire and air and smoke on the water… A lightning flash behind closed eyes… a rumble of thunder in a forgotten memory…. Come closer sang the light… release me, and I will take you back to a time before time itself, and more… together we will go on a journey and in the valley of your greatest darkness, I will light the way, and protect you from the Seven Lords of Destruction. I will chart a course through the mysteries of chance and uncertainty, and unlock the secret geometry of the heavens… I will be your talisman, your amulet in this life, and the next. Together we will sail the raging seas and cross the burning sands…We will climb the tortured mountains and on and down to the gentle plains… And I will bring you home!
